A Russian painter and theater artist, engraver. Born in Moscow. He began his art education in the Sunday school of Strohanov Central School of Arts and Crafts (1911 - 1916). Then he studied at Saratov Central School of Art and Production (1916 - 1918), the Public free art workshop (1918 - 1920, under the guidance of F. Fedorovskyy). Since 1925 he took an active part in Moscow and all-union exhibitions. In 1927 he graduated from the Higher Art and Technical Institute, where his teachers were N. Udaltsova, O. Osmyorkin and O. Shevchenko. During 1929 - 1932 he worked as an artist in the Theater of working youth in Moscow. He was a member of the Union of Young Artists II (1928 - 1930), of Moscow organization of the Unionof Artists (1932 - 1941). At the initiative of the master the was held the exhibition of the single artists (1932, Moscow). His works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, in the Art Museums of Vologda, Donetsk, Orel, Cheboksary and Tbilisi.
