A Russian painter. Born in Barnaul in the family of the artist that belonged to Austrian origin. He studied in Munich Academy of Arts. In 1874 he received the title of the free artist by the decision of St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. He participated in the Spring exhibitions of the Academy of Arts, where in addition to his oil painting, the watercolors and drawings of the master were widely presented. In the late 1870s he lived in Tomsk, where he opened his own studio. In 1905 he settled in Kiev. He was the exhibitor of the shows of the Union of Kiev artists, of the 7th Autumn exhibition in St. Petersburg (1912), where he presented a series of works devoted to hunting with the great success. He painted pictures for the Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich Romanov, he was his court painter. Author of landscapes and ethnographic compositions. He was fond of hunting and became well-known as an animal painter. He was engaged in sculpture, created the busts of O. Pushkin and P. Tchaikovsky. Many of masterХs works were reproduced in periodicals and on postcards. His works are presented in museum and private collections of Kyiv, Tomsk, Omsk, Biysk and other cities.
