A Russian painter. Born in Kharkiv. He received legal education, served as a barrister in the court chamber of Petersburg district. In 1916 he left the service and devoted himself to art. In 1918, on advice of I. Brodsky he showed his works to I. Repin and received his approval. Later he became a trustee and secretary of I. Repin, the organizer of his exhibitions during 1919 - 1930. In 1925 in Finland there was held a joint exhibition of I. Repin, Y. Repin and V. Levi. From 1930 till 1939 he lived and worked in Paris. In 1930 he participated in the exhibition of Russian artists in Amsterdam, in 1931 Р he was one of the organizers and participants of the exhibition of Russian artists. The masterХs landscape "Snow under the sun" was purchased by the Luxembourg Museum in Paris. Since 1939 he lived in Stockholm, painted academic landscapes, in the last years of his life he painted lyrical still lives. In 1945 he passed 160 letters of I. Repin to the State Literary Museum in Moscow, in 1946 he gave two sketches of "Cossacks" to the State Tretyakov Gallery. His works are kept in the museums of Sweden and Finland.
