He spent several years in Italy and Greece. In 1849 he returned to France, taught painting at the private studio. In 1875 he became a Knight of the Legion of Honor. He lived and worked in Paris. He painted genre scenes, landscapes and mythological scenes. His works are kept in the National Museum of History and Art in Luxembourg, the Museum de Picardie in Amiens, the Museum of Fine Arts in Lille, etc.
