Ukrainian artist, painter, graphic artist, theatrical designer. He worked under the pseudonym of Ivan Usatenko and K. Boris. He was born in Orhei, Moldova now. In 1918 he graduated from the F. Krychevskyi's Art School in Kyiv, where he studied under the guidance of M. Boychuk and G. Narbut. After school, he lived for some time in Kamenetz-Podolsk, where he taught drawing at the Art and Industrial College. In 1923 - 1940 he worked as an artist-decorator at the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 1930s he collaborated with a number of publishing houses of Kiev, in particular, with the publishing house "Kultura", which united many talented young graphic artists such as: L.Gamburger, B. Yermolenko, E. Rachev and others. He illustrated books of T. Shevchenko, I. Franco, J. Le and others. In 1948 he emigrated to Argentina and settled in Buenos Aires, where had repeatedly held solo exhibitions in prestigious art galleries. Also exhibited his works in the United States and Canada. Worked much in the field of book illustration. In 1969 memorial exhibitions were held in New York and Toronto, in 1977 and 1980 - in Germany. His works are kept in the Art Museums of Buenos Aires, Rome, Toronto.
