Ukrainian and Polish painter. He painted pictures on mythological and biblical scenes, portraits and symbolic compositions. Bright representative of "modern" style. Born in the town of Neborov, Lublin province (Poland). Attended the drawing classes of the Warsaw Society of Fine Arts. In 1872 on the means of the Society was sent to Rome, where he met P. and A. Svyedomskiys. In 1872 - 1875 he studied at the St. Luke Royal Academy in Rome under the direction of F. Podesta. In 1875 opened his own studio in Rome. In 1888 invited by P. Svyedomskyy moved to Kyiv to participate in the decoration of St. Volodymyr's cathedral, where he worked until 1896. Member and exhibitor of the Society of Kyiv art exhibitions (1893 - 1900). In Kyiv, also made murals commissioned by N. Tereshchenko and B. Khanenko. He exhibited his works in numerous exhibitions, including the main Warsaw salon "Zahenta" (1879 - 1909), The Moscow Society Art Lovers (1881 - 1882, 1886), exhibitions at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1885, 1900, 1904). In 1898 presented more than a hundred paintings and sketches at the exhibition of the Academy of Arts. The works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, The State Russian Museum, Kyiv National Museum of Russian Art, the museum collections of Poland and many others.
