A Ukrainian artist. Born in the village of Kalna Roztoka (now Slovakia). He got his first painting lessons at the high school, where the drawing course was taught by A. Erdeli. In 1932 he graduated from Uzhgorod Art School, studied under the guidance of Y. Bokshay and A. Erdeli. He participated in the exhibitions since 1933. He was a member of the Union of fine art workers in Subcarpathian Rus since 1934. Member of the Artists' Union of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic since 1946, People's Artist of Ukraine since 1991. His personal exhibitions took place in Kyiv (1974, 2001) and Uzhgorod (2002, 2007). He created his own trend of expressionism, which reflected the themes of nature, folklore and folk life of Verkhovyna. His works are stored in the Art Museums of Ukraine, Russia and Slovakia.
