An Austrian landscape and sea painter, representative of the Viennese school of painting. He had more than ten pseudonyms, but his real name was K. Kaufmann. He studied at Vienna Academy of Arts, at the departments of the painting and architecture. After graduation he traveled across Germany, Belgium and the western coast of France, making numerous full-scale sketches from nature that were later embodied in the paintings. During 1880 - 1890 he frequently visited Italy, devoting many of his paintings to the landscapes of this country. In his creative work the views of the coast with impressive lighting and original interpretation of color are dominating ones. His works are presented in the collection of Belvedere gallery in Vienna as well as in the other museums and private collections of Austria and Italy.
