He made his debut at the exhibitions of Turin (1884), Rome (1886), Milan (1887) and Venice (1887). He painted still lives, landscapes, portraits and genre scenes. He traveled a lot to different countries, where he gained recognition and high appreciation of art criticism. He held exhibitions in Monaco, Berlin, Barcelona. He had great success at the Paris Salon of 1912. He travelled across America, where he created numerous paintings and graphic works of Oriental themes. The last years of his life he spent in the suburbs of Naples, teaching his students D. Bottero, and B. Castella. One of the brightest representatives of the Neapolitan school of painting that became famous for his achievements in the transmission of light and air. His works are presented in the Art Museums and galleries of Italy, France, Austria, Germany, and in numerous private collections worldwide.
