A Russian painter and graphic artist. He was born in Tiflis, Georgia. Since 1899 he studied at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under the guidance of P. Kovalevskyy and F. Rubo. In 1907 he received the title of the artist. He was a member of the Association "Community of Artists" (1910 - 1920s), one of its organizers. He took part in the exhibitions since 1903. He participated in hydrographic expedition to Murman and to the island of Kolguyev, as a result he created a series of paintings called "The Extreme North" (1909), he also illustrated "The fables" by Ivan Krylov. He performed posters for the union of Leningrad artists "Boevoy Karandash" (ТBattle PencilУ) (1941 - 1942). His works were exhibited at the foreign exhibitions in Amsterdam (1912) and London (1938). His personal exhibitions ТThe pictures and sketches of the Extreme NorthУ took place in St. Petersburg (1909) and Moscow (1937). He painted battle scenes and landscapes. He lived and worked in Leningrad.
