A Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Born in the village of Vasylivka, Poltava province. During 1894 - 1898 he studied at Kyiv Drawing School where he was learning arts from M. Murashko and M. Pimonenko. Since1898 Р at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Achitecture under the guidance of V. Serov. In 1901 he got a small silver medal and in 1903 he got the title of an unclased artist. Since 1903 he continued his art education at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts where he was learning arts from I. Repin, V. Savinskyi, and P. Chystyakov. Since 1898 he had participated in the exhibitions of Moscow School odа Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, Academy of Arts, etc. In 1911 he got the title of an artist. During the years of 1912 - 1913 he was in Italy. Since 1918 he had lived in the village of Vasylivka. In 1910 he drew for St. Petersburg magazines "Argus", "Solntse Rossii", "Niva", "OgonЮk." During the First World War, being at the front, performed numerous drawings and sketches. Became famous as a master of portrait and genre painting. His works are stored in Poltava, Kharkiv Art Museum, the Art Museum of St. Petersburg, etc.
