Ukrainian and French artist. Born in the village of Makariv, Kiev province. Since 1905 he had attended a private school in Kyiv. In 1912 went to Paris and was hired to La Ruche. During the First World War H. Sutin lived in his studio. Was on friendly terms with P. KreminХ and A. Modigliani. Attended LХAcademie de la Grande Chaumiere and F. Kolarossi Art Studio. Painted portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. In 1921 he participated in the exhibition of Russian art in London. During 1934 - 1942 he hired an art studio in dХOdessa Street at Montparnasse. In the years of 1942 - 1944 he lived in the Department of Dordogne. On returning to Paris in the shelter of Maisons-Laffitte he painted portraits of children whose parents died in the concentration camps. Exhibited in the Autumn and the Independent Salon. He held a lot of solo exhibitions in Paris and London galleries. The works are presented at the Museum of Modern Art in Troyes, the museums of Boulogne-Biyankura, New York and Tel Aviv.
