A famous French painter. Born in Toulouse. There he graduated from the School of Fine Arts. He continued his education in Paris Academy of Arts under the guidance of the famous landscaper J.-A. Body. He studied in private art studios of M. Lalande and L.-A. Auguin in Paris. Since 1886 he became a permanent member of salons. He also was a member of the French Artists’ Union. He exhibited his works in numerous exhibitions in Toulouse, Lyon, Leipzig, Boston, the Hague and other cities. In 1891 he moved to Paris where he quickly gained fame and recognition as a master of picturesque countryside of the provinces of Aquitaine, Gascogne, Limousin, Piedmont (Italy) and many others. The artist’s landscapes were awarded honorary mentioning at the Salon in 1890 and the third-class medal at the Salon of 1896. The French government awarded the master the Legion of Honour for high artistic achievements. His works are kept in the Capitol and the Bamber Museum in Toulouse, in the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig, in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, in the Museum of Art (Musee Fabre) in Montpellier, as well as in the Art Museums of Lyon, Prague, Bristol, Orléans and other cities.
