A Russian artist, sea painter. Born in the town of Kuznetsk, Penza province. Graduated from Kronsshtadt Sea School. For some time he had been navigating the sea war ships. Since 1885 he had been an auditor to Petersburg Academy of Arts. There he was learning painting from L. Lagorio. Later to improve his education he was sent to Paris where he continued his studies in the art studio of O. Bogolyubov and F. Cormon. From 1890 to 1891 he accompanied cesarevytch Mykola Oleksandrovych on his tour to the East on the frigate "PamyatХ Azova". In 1894 he became an artist of the Admiralty of Russia. Since 1886 he had been an active participant at the exhibitions of the Academy of Arts and various associations of Russian Artists (Association of Itinerant Art Exhibitions, Moscow Society of Art Lovers, Society of Russian Watercolorists, etc.). His solo exhibitions were held in Paris (1896) and Moscow (1902, the memorial exhibition). He worked as a landscape painter, author of architectural landscapes, views of sea ports, and depicted the ships of the Russian Navy Fleet. The works are stored in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery , the art museums of  Saratov, Omsk, Perm, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Tashkent, etc.
