A Ukrainian artist, landscape painter. He learned to paint from M. Murashko at Kyiv Drawing School. From 1878 to 1888 he studied at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. For his creative achievement he received the awards: in 1882 - the second silver medal, in 1884 - two second silver medals, in 1885 - the first silver medal, in 1886 - the first and the second silver medal, in 1887 - a small gold medal for the painting "View of the watermill". In 1888, he got the title of a class landscape painter of the 1st degree, and in 1893, he received the title of academician. He founded a school of painting and sculpture in Kyiv, which was situated in Lvivska Street, 14. He was a member of the Association of Itinerant Art Exhibitions established by V. Vasnetsov. He participated in the exhibitions of the Association of Itinerant Art Exhibitions with S. Svitoslavskyi, P. Svyedomskyi, O. Svyedomskyi, I. Rashevskyi, as well as with V.  Kotarbinskyi and V. Menko that were his friends. The works are presented in the State Russian Museum, the NAMU, the Poltava art Museum, etc.
