Vihtynskyi Viktor Ivanovych, 1918 - 2003

A Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Born in Kharkiv. He studied at Kharkiv Art School (1934 - 1937) and then at Kharkiv Art Institute (1937 - 1941, 1948 - 1950) under the guidance of M. A Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Born in Kharkiv. He studied at Kharkiv Art School (1934 - 1937) and then at Kharkiv Art Institute (1937 - 1941, 1948 - 1950) under the guidance of M. Fedorov, M. Kozik, V. Mironenko. He taught at Kharkiv Art Institute. Member of the republican and all-Union exhibitions since 1950. Member of the USSR Artists' Union since 1951. He worked in the techniques of oil painting, etching, aquatint and lithography. The works were exhibited at the international exhibitions in Poland (1951, 1955, 1956), Italy (Venice, 1956), Japan (1958). His solo exhibitions were held in Kharkiv (1968, 1978, 1979, 1988), Odessa (1969), Poltava (1970); Chervonograd (1979) and Kyiv (1989). The author of numerous graphic series, landscapes and genre paintings on religious themes. The works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian museum, the NAMU, etc.
