A Ukrainian artist, one of the founders of the Zakarpattya school of painting, he worked in the field of portrait and genre painting. Born in the town of Hust, Zakarpattya today. In the years of 1898 - 1899, he studied at Munich Academy of Arts under the teaching of Sh. Kholosha and L. Lofttse, then - at Budapest School of Model Drawing and at the Academy of R. Julien in Paris. In 1901, he went to New York where he created a grand composition "Coronation of the Virgin Maria," for which he received the award. On returning to Ukraine, he lived first in Uzhgorod and later - in Mukachevo. Performed painting of the churches, in particular, of the iconostasis of Nikolai Monastery on the Chernecha Mountain, on which he had worked over 7 years. In 1928, he was appointed a government painter of Mukachevo eparchy. The works are in the Donetsk art Museum.
