A famous French painter and graphic artist. Born in Paris. From 1943 till 1945 he studied at Paris School of Fine Arts. At the age of 18, he exhibited his first work Р a self-portrait. Since then he was always in the centre of Parisian artistic life, he gained a great recognition and support from the intellectual elite of France. Since 1971 – Knight of the Legion of Honour. In 1973, the Museum of B. Buffer was opened in Japan. He painted landscapes, portraits, still lives and genre compositions in his unique colourful style. He brilliantly mastered the techniques of lithography and dry-point. His major solo exhibitions were annually held in the main museums of Europe and the United States, in 1991 – in the State Museum of Fine Arts and the State Hermitage Museum, Russia.
