A Flemish painter, widely known as a master of flower and fruit still lives. Great-grandson of P. Brueghel, Senior. Born in Antwerp. He received art education from his father, J. Brueghel Junior and in Roman Academy of Fine Arts. In 1649, he went to Italy to work with Prince Antonio Ruffo in Sicily. During 1659 - 1670 he lived and worked in Rome, where he became a member of the Academy of Saint Luke. In 1671, he moved to Naples. He laid the foundations of the Roman and Neapolitan still-life. Around the masters, there was formed a large school of art, among his followers over all J. P. Kastelli, known as Spadino, and F. W. von Tamm, called Da Pres can be singled out. His works are presented in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, in the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, in the National Art Museum in Stockholm, Turin Pinacotheca, the State Hermitage Museum, etc.
