Colarossi (both - in Paris). In 1921, he settled in the suburbs of Vienna, began publishing short stories and novels under the pseudonyms "Jean de Valois" and "Emmanuel ...

A French artist and writer. Born in Paris in the family of the immigrants from Ukraine. Since 1916, he studied painting in the Art Studio of G. Courtois and in the Academy of F. Colarossi (both - in Paris). In 1921, he settled in the suburbs of Vienna, began publishing short stories and novels under the pseudonyms "Jean de Valois" and "Emmanuel Bove". In 1922, he returned to Paris. In 1924, the novel "My friends" brought a huge success and recognition to the author. During 1928 – 1932, he was a regular exhibitor of the Salon of the French artists in Paris. He participated in the exhibitions in London Academy of Arts. In 1928 for his novel "Coalition", he won the main literary award of France - the Goncourt Prize. He painted still lives, landscapes and genre scenes. The famous Irish writer S. Beckett said about the master: "As no one else, he has a sense of touching detail".
