He studied at the University and at the same time attended classes at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, (the teachers were V. Perov and O. Savrasov). Since 1880, he had served for the Board of Agriculture, and due to the matters of official concern he travelled a lot around Russia and was engaged in painting. In 1922 he was evacuated to Constantinople, got to the Lemnian Island and then - to France. In Paris he was hired by the L. Gerard’s Gallery where he exhibited and sold the landscapes. Through the gallery, he executed the orders for the South America and the UK. Since 1931, he exhibited his works at the Salon of the Independent. The favourite motifs in his creative work were Russian winter landscapes and old noble parks and estates. The works are stored in the art museums of France and the UK.
