A Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Born in Kharkiv. During 1924 – 1929, he studied at Kharkiv Art Institute under the tutelage of O. Kokel, and M. Samokish, M. Sharonov. In the years of 1929 – 1930, he was a member of the Association of Modern Masters of Ukraine. Since 1927, he had participated in the exhibitions. During 1929 - 1941 and then since 1943 he had taught at Kharkiv Art Institute, and in 1960 became its professor. In 1934 and 1952, his solo exhibitions were hold in Kharkiv. The works exhibited at the international exhibitions in Poland (1959), Germany (1960), Austria (1963) and others. The Honored Arts Worker of the UkrSSR since 1970. Author of portraits, historical and genre compositions. He created a large series of colour lithographs dedicated to T. Shevchenko. The works are stored in the NAMU, the Kharkiv Art Museum, the Kyiv National Museum of Russian Art, etc.
