Austrian painter of Art Nouveau period. Born in Vienna. He studied at Vienna Academy of Arts (1880 - 1881), later he became a pupil and assistant of E. Schindler. One of the founders and member of association of Austrian painters "Vienna Secession" (1897 - 1905). At his initiative in 1903 in Vienna there was founded "Modern Gallery" (now - Österreichische Galerie Belvedere). He began his exhibition activity in 1932, organized exhibitions involving painters of other countries, promoted works of G. Klimt. Lived and worked in Vienna. Author of landscapes, still-life paintings and genre compositions. He is also famous as the author of large-size colored lithographs and xylographies. His works are kept at Österreichische Galerie Belvedere and other museums of Austria, Germany and in private collections.
