Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Born in Alupka. In 1922 - 1930 he studied at an art studio of in Simferopol Samokish M., in 1932 - 1937 - in the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. I. Repin St. Petersburg. Since 1935, the participant of the Republican, all-union and international exhibitions. In 1938 - 1940 worked in Leningrad. Since 1946, he lived in the Crimea. The member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1958. Solo exhibitions were held in Yalta (1954, 1962, 1963, 1964), Kiev (1955), Leningrad (1960, 1962, 1963, 1964), Simferopol (1961, 1962, 1964), Sevastopol (1962). Honored Artist of the USSR since 1974. Laureate of the State Prize of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (1996). In 1997 the City Museum of paintings named after Y. Basov opened in Alupka. National artist of Ukraine since 2004. His works are kept in the Art Museums of Simferopol, Kerch, Sevastopol, Bakhchisaray Historical and Cultural Reserve, Livadia Palace-museum etc.
