An Austrian painter, engraver and watercolourist. Born in Znaim, now the Czech Republic. He studied in the private art studios in Vienna. He traveled a lot to the Swiss and Austrian Alps. The master’s mountain landscapes enjoyed great success at the trade shows, were reproduced in the form of lithographs, prints and art cards. Both sons of the artist (Gustav and Emil) studied in the studio of his father and became well-known artists. His works are kept in the Museum of Natural History in Vienna and in other Art Museums of Austria, Switzerland, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
