A Russian and Ukrainian artist, watercolourist. Born in the village of Toplak, the Crimea. Later he moved to the village of Ortalan (now Zemlyanychne), where he worked as a retoucher at the court photographerХs, there he met with the artists M. Zichi and I. Krachkovskyy who gave the first professional advice to the future master. Since 1895 he studied at St. Petersburg school of the Society for the Promotion of Artists under the guidance of O. Pysemskyy and O. Afanasiev. In 1900 he returned to Yalta, painted the landscapes of Yalta. The watercolours of the artist had great popularity, especially after the last Empress Olexandra Fedorivna acquired 24 images of the artist and even wanted him to give drawing lessons to her children. Since 1914 he permanently took part in the exhibitions of the Imperial Russian Union of watercolourists. In 1917 he was elected the head of the free public workshop in Yalta. In 1925 he moved to Bakhchisarai, lived there until his death, for many years he taught at the College of Art and Industry and at the local art studio. Honorary citizen of Bakhchisarai. He was an active participant in the art exhibitions in Moscow, Kyiv, Odessa, Simferopol, Bakhchisarai. About 100 of his works are stored in the collection of Bakhchisaray historical and cultural reserve.
