Shubin Serge (Zalshupin Sergey Alexandrovych), 1900 - 1931

An artist of the Russian emigration. Born in St. Petersburg in the family of O. Zalushpin, the publisher of "The Encyclopedia of banking affairs" and the newspapers "Russian Economist" and "The life and the court". He studied at the New Art workshop under the guidance of V. Shuhayev and O. Yakovlev (1915 - 1918). In 1921 he emigrated to Berlin....

An artist of the Russian emigration. Born in St. Petersburg in the family of O. Zalushpin, the publisher of "The Encyclopedia of banking affairs" and the newspapers "Russian Economist" and "The life and the court". He studied at the New Art workshop under the guidance of V. Shuhayev and O. Yakovlev (1915 - 1918). In 1921 he emigrated to Berlin. He worked in thd emigrant publications, where he published portrait sketches. He participated in the art exhibitions, including 1923 in the exhibition of original drawings of Petrograd bookplates. In 1923 the Berlin publisher "Gamayun" issued the album of the artist's etchings "The portraits of modern Russians writers" that included the portraits of O. Blok, A. Byelyy, M. Gorkyy, B. Pilnyak, I. Shmelev and others with a circulation of 100 copies. The same year he performed illustrations for the book "Alice in WonderlandУ by L. Carroll in the translation of V. Nabokov. Since 1924 he lived in Paris. He exhibited his works under the pseudonym "Serge Shubin" at the Autumn Salon (1924, 1930).
