Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Born in Nosivka, Chernihiv Oblast. From 1929 till 1933 he studied at Kyiv Institute of Art under the guidance of F. Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Born in Nosivka, Chernihiv Oblast. From 1929 till 1933 he studied at Kyiv Institute of Art under the guidance of F. Krychevskyy, since 1936 - in Leningrad Academy of Arts under the guidance of B. Yoganson. In 1942 - 1943 he was evacuated to Samarkand. In 1944 he returned to Ukraine, made creative tours to cities of Western Ukraine and Bukovina. In 1944 moved to Kyiv. Recipient of Order of Lenin (1971) and Order of Friendship of Peoples (1981), State Prize of the UkrSSR named after Т. Shevchenko (1982) and Order of Merit (1995). People’s Artists of the USSR (1974). Author of portraits and still-life paintings. One of the main representatives of Kyiv Landscape School. His works are kept at the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Simferopol, Sumy, Odessa, Chernihiv Art Museums and in many museum and private collections.
