A German painter, graphic artist; he also worked as an illustrator. Born in Naunhof, Germany. He studied in the Academies of Arts in Leipzig, Munich and Dusseldorf. At first he worked as a graphic artist, illustrating literary works for publishing houses in Berlin and Vienna. Later he turned to painting, worked primarily as a landscape painter....

At first he worked as a graphic artist, illustrating literary works for publishing houses in Berlin and Vienna. Later he turned to painting, worked primarily as a landscape painter. Since 1902 he taught painting at the Academy of Graphic Arts and Book Publishing in Leipzig. He participated in numerous art exhibitions - exhibited works at the show in Dresden (1903), constant participant of Berlin and Munich Secessions, etc. He became widely known after the collective exhibition in Leipzig (1909). In the early ••th century he was considered one of the most talented artists of Leipzig. His works are kept in the museums of Germany, including the Museum of History of Leipzig and Leipzig Museum of Fine Arts.
