Baksheyev, A. Stepanov, V. Serov...

One of the leading Russian painters of the first half of the ••th century. Born in Ekaterynburg. He studied at the Central School of Technical Drawing (1895), Strohanov Central School of Arts and Crafts (1896 - 1897) and Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1898 - 1909) under the guidance of V. Baksheyev, A. Stepanov, V. Serov and K. Korovin. Member and exhibitor of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (1911 - 1912), the Union of Russian Artists (1912 - 1913), the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (since 1924). His personal exhibitions were held in Moscow (1937, 1941). He lived and worked mainly in Moscow. He developed types of landscapes of "Levitan" and "Korovin" manners, "rural landscape" of V. Serov. Famous as an outstanding animal painted. His works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and in many other museums. He painted subtle in colour, pastose in manner of performance lyrical views of the Russian North and Ural nature.
