A Russian artist. Born into a wealthy landlord family, graduated from Strohanov Central School of Arts and Crafts. There is very little information left about the masterХs life. Misfortune overtook a lot of works and archive stored in the family estate of the artist - they were destroyed during the civil war. Others in 1914 were taken to the exhibition in Paris and there they remained in private collections. In the Russian State Archive there is a document dated September 30 1882. This is the request from "Collegiate assessor Olexiy Ivanovych Trankovskyy" to St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, where he asked to give him the rank of the artist for his paintings. This means that O. Trankovskyy was formed as an artist in the late 1860s - 1870s. Specialists from the Art Museum of Voronezh named after I. Kramskoy, in collection of which the painting "The pub keeper" is kept, characterize him as a follower of the Itinerants. In the early ••th century many of his works were reproduced on postcards. He painted genre paintings, still lives and compositions on historical topics. The State Museum of the History of Religion in St. Petersburg stores the picture "Volodymyr and Rogneda." Some works of the master are kept in the collection of Michurinsk regional museum. Today, nearly three dozens of paintings belonging to the brush of O. Trankovskyy are known. The creative work of this original, talented and recognizable by his style artist has a special historical and artistic value.
