A Russian painter. Born in Moscow in a wealthy merchant family. In 1889 he graduated from Moscow State College. In 1894 he tried to enter Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, but he failed entrance exams. He traveled along the shores of the Volga, the Crimea and the Caucasus. In 1897 in the Crimea he met K. Korovin, later he worked in his Moscow studio. In Moscow, he was on friendly terms with the young artists: P. Kuznetsov, P. Utkin, A. Sryedinyy and N. Millioti. In 1898 together with N. Millioti he moved to Paris. He studied at the National School of Fine Arts, attended the workshops of J.-P. Laurence and L. Meyerson. Since 1902 he exhibited his works at the shows of the Union "36 Artists", the Union of Russian Artists (member of the union since 1903), in V. IzdebskyyХs Salons, in "The world of Arts" (member of the association). He participated in the Russian artistic circle. He painted in the impressionistic style of urban and rural landscapes, still lives, often turned to the themes of family and motherhood.
