Tamm Franz Werner, 1658 – 1724

One of the most famous masters of German still life of the late XVIIth - early XVIIIth centuries. Born in Hamburg. He studied under the guidance of D. von Esten and G. Pfeifer. From 1685 till 1695 he worked in Rome in the studio of Nucci (Mario di Fiori). Since 1696 he lived and worked in Vienna, where he was a court painter of Emperor Leopold....

From 1685 till 1695 he worked in Rome in the studio of Nucci (Mario di Fiori). Since 1696 he lived and worked in Vienna, where he was a court painter of Emperor Leopold. He painted mostly flowers, birds and animals. His works are kept in numerous museums of Europe, in the State Museum of Fine Arts and the State Hermitage.
