A Russian artist. Born in Orel. He received elementary art education in Moscow studio of the artist C. Grybkov (1887). From 1892 till 1899 he studied at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under the guidance of A. Arkhipov and V. Serov, during 1901 - 1906 - at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under the guidance of I. Repin. Exhibitor of MTLH, Moscow Society "The Group of Artists" (1909 - 1911), the Association of the Artists of Russia (1926), the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (47th, 48th exhibitions). Active participant of the literary and artistic circle "Wednesday" in Moscow. From 1913 till 1920 he taught at Kyiv Art School, participated in the decoration of Lutsk barracks in Kyiv. In 1920 he was an employee of Katerynoslavsk regional museum. Honored Artist of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic since 1940. He studied history, was on friendly terms with D. Yavornytskyy V. Gilyarovskyy. He painted pictures on historical themes and portraits. His works are presented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Central Museum of Armed Forces in Moscow, the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia in Moscow, in Dnepropetrovsk National Historical Museum named after D. Yavornytskyy, in the Art Museums of Poltava and Donetsk.
