A Russian painter, graphic artist, stage designer. Born in St. Petersburg. The eldest son of the composer I. Stravinskyy. Since 1913 he lived in Switzerland, since 1920 - in France, where he started painting. The first teachers of the painter were G. Braque, A. Derain and P. Picasso. From 1930 till 1932 he studied at the Academy-Workshop of A. Loth. He painted portraits, circus scenes, landscapes in a realistic manner, occasionally he turned to book illustration. In 1940 his solo exhibition was held in New York (Perls Gallery), in 1941 - in Toulouse, Geneva and Zurich. During the Second World War he moved to Switzerland. After the war he once and for all settled in Geneva, continued to paint, designed the performances in the theaters of Geneva, Zurich, Milan, in particular for I. StravinskyyХs ballets, created stained-glass windows and mosaics for the Catholic churches of Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy and France. He received the Order of Arts and Literature of the French Academy (1979) and the Order of Saint Gregory the Great for serving the art of the Catholic Church (1977). His works are presented in the collections of Geneva University library, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Geneva, the Museum of Art and History in Geneva, in Vatican Pinacotheca, etc.
