A Russian theater and graphic artist, art expert and critic. Born in St. Petersburg, Count of origin. In 1870 he graduated from Moscow University. He taught in private drama schools in Moscow and was the head of the costume piece performed on the stages of Moscow imperial theaters. He created sketches of costumes and accessories for performances. Author of drawings and watercolours on historical themes. Art critics noted the historical authenticity of the masterХs works. He was known as an illustrator, collaborated with the magazine "Actor". Founder (together with K. Stanislavsky) and a regular participant of the Society of art and literature (1888). He was a collector, owner of the large collection of the Russian art and iconography.
