Bryullov. In 1855 he was promoted to the extra-class artist of portraiture. Academician since 1899. He lived mainly in Moscow and St. Petersburg. He traveled across Russia a lot. He was a war reporter in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877 - 1878. He painted genre paintings and portraits; animal painter, master of the compositions devoted to hunting and village life. Author of wonderful illustrations to Russian and Ukrainian classics (I. Turgenev, M. GogolХ).
