Flemish painter, master of battle and hunting scenes. Born in Antwerp. He studied under the guidance of SVrancx, the founder of the battle painting in the Netherlands. Since 1613 a member of painters' guild of Saint Luke in Antwerp. In 1628 moved to Brussels, where he was appointed as a court painter of  battle-the House of Habsburg. Executed orders of Spanish royal court, Archduke Leopold Wilhelm, Count de Bonaventure Byukua and others. The works are presented in the State Hermitage, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Prado Museum in Madrid, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Museum of Military History in Vienna, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels, the German Historical Museum in Berlin and more.
