A Ukrainian artist, master of monumental painting. Born in Odessa. He studied at Kirovohrad Art School, Odessa Art School under the guidance of M. Gershenfeld. From 1930 till 1934 he studied in Kyiv Institute of Art on the faculty of painting under the guidance of M. Boychuk, M. Rokytskyy, E. Kholostenko, I. Padalka. In 1941 hid solo exhibition was held in Kyiv. Since 1946 he was engaged in post-war restoration of Kyiv, Kharkiv, participated in the reconstruction of the Mariinsky Palace. In the 1960s he became the head of the new direction in contemporary monumental art, which became known as "The Ukrainian National coloristic school." In 1966 he participated in the creation of monumental mosaic ensembles in Donetsk. In 1968 he moved to Kryvyy Rig, where he invented a new monumental technique - "floromosaic". Winner of State the Prize of Ukraine named after T. Shevchenko (1992). Honored Artist of Ukraine since 1996. In Kryvyy Rig there was opened the Memorial flat of G. Synytsya.
