A Russian and Latvian painter, master of lyrical landscape. Born in Yelgava, Latvia. After graduating from local high school he went to St. Petersburg, where he continued his studying in St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under the guidance of F. Burov, I. Shishkin and Y. Clever in the class of landscape painting. He participated in the exhibitions of the Axademy of Arts in 1906, 1908, 1912 and 1914. He returned to Latvia in 1918, continued his friendship with Y. Clever, who had hisd own salon-shop in Riga. His solo exhibition was held in 1927 in the Club of the Officers in Riga. In 1937 in Yelgava the widow of the artist arranged his memorial exhibition. Most of the artistХs paintings during the life of the author found their admirers in Denmark, Sweden, England, the Netherlands, France, and in his homeland - in Latvia and also in Russia.
