Rybak (Ryback) Isakhar Ber, 1897 - 1935

A Jewish painter, graphic artist, worked in the genre of portrait and landscape, painted the scenes from the life of the Jewish province. Born in Yelysavetgrad (now Kirovograd). From 1911 till 1916 he studied at Kyiv Institute of Art, during 1917 - 1919 he worked as a decorator in the Jewish Theatre in Kyiv, taught at the Jewish Cultural League....

A Jewish painter, graphic artist, worked in the genre of portrait and landscape, painted the scenes from the life of the Jewish province. Born in Yelysavetgrad (now Kirovograd). From 1911 till 1916 he studied at Kyiv Institute of Art, during 1917 - 1919 he worked as a decorator in the Jewish Theatre in Kyiv, taught at the Jewish Cultural League. Together with B. Aronsson he published programmatic article "The Ways of Jewish Art". Since 1919 he lived in Moscow. In 1921 he went to Berlin, where he performed some graphic series "Pogrom", "The Jewish types of Ukraine", "Town". He presented his works in Berlin Secession, in the years of 1923 - 1929 he was a member of Berlin art association "November group". In 1926 he emigrated to France, lived and worked in Paris. He participated in the salons: Autumn, Tuileries, Independent. In 1962 the master's wife founded the museum in Israel called "RybakХs House", where she gave a collection of his paintings.
