A Ukrainian painter and sculptor. Born in Chuguuiv, Kharkiv region. He graduated from Kyiv University. He studied painting under the guidance of L. Lagorio in St. Petersburg. A Ukrainian painter and sculptor. Born in Chuguuiv, Kharkiv region. He graduated from Kyiv University. He studied painting under the guidance of L. Lagorio in St. Petersburg. He headed the museum of V. Tarnovskyy in Chernihiv. He participated in the exhibitions of St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, Kyiv union of art exhibitions. From 1894 till 1896 at the 5th Р 7th exhibitions of the Society of southern Russian artists in Odessa he exhibited his landscapes that the artist had sent from Chernigiv. During 1911 - 1912 he participated in the competition for the design of the monument to Taras Shevchenko for Kyiv, during 1919 - 1921 - for Chernigov. In 1927 in Kyiv his works were exhibited at the exhibition dedicated to the Ukrainian composer M. Lysenko. Most of his works disappeared during the Great Patriotic War. In 1999 in the National Art Museum of Ukraine there was held an exhibition dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the artist. His works are stored in the Art Museums of Kyiv and Chernihiv.
