A famous Russian artist, poet. In 1905 he studied in the private Moscow studio of A. Bolshakov. After graduating from Kazan University he taught the history of art and literature at Kazan Art School. Under the influence of M. Feshyn he started painting seriously. He took part in the exhibitions since 1908. He was admitted to the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions in 1914. The first chairman and member of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (since 1922), a member of the Union of artists of Moscow region (1933). He traveled a lot across Russia. He painted landscape and architectural scapes. He published several collections of his own verses, was in friendly terms with S. Esenin. His works were exhibited at the international exhibitions in Munich, Venice, Cologne, Berlin, London, New York, Tokyo. His paintings are presented in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, Dnipropetrovsk Art Museum and in many others.
