A Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Born in GvizdetsХ, Ivano-Frankivsk region. From 1895 till 1899 he studied in Munich Academy of Arts where he was fond of pastel painting, especially he was interested in portrait genre. At the graduation he returned to Lviv, he gained popularity  as a portrait painter and illustrator of magazines and satirical publications. He worked as a painter, he painted portraits on the order of the local intellectuals, landscapes of Prykarpattya and genre scenes. In 1901 he made a creative journey through Western Europe. After returning home he permanently settled in Lviv. He painted several churches in the Hutsul region, particularly in the village of IlХtsi together with the artist Y. Kurylas. Original works of the master (1912 Р 1914) were issued in more than 120 postcards. The last years of his life he lived in Odessa. His works are presented in Lviv Art Gallery.
