Pozhedayev Georgiy Anatolliyivych, 1894 - 1971

 A Russian painter, graphic and theater artist. Born in Kursk. Since 1908 he studied painting under the guidance of Y. Tsioglinskyy. Since 1915 he studied at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under the guidance of A. Arkhipenko and M. Kasatkin, then in St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under the guidance of D. Kardovskyy and G....

 A Russian painter, graphic and theater artist. Born in Kursk. Since 1908 he studied painting under the guidance of Y. Tsioglinskyy. Since 1915 he studied at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture under the guidance of A. Arkhipenko and M. Kasatkin, then in St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under the guidance of D. Kardovskyy and G. Zaleman. In 1918 he began working as a set designer in Petrograd, created sketches of scenery and costumes for M. CherepninХs ballet "Red Masks" (1918 - 1919). In 1920 he emigrated to Rumania. He worked at the National Theatre in Bucharest. In Prague he created set of scenery for the troupe of G. Pavlova. From 1921 till 1924 he lived in Berlin and Vienna, worked in the Berlin cabaret of Y. Yuzhny "The Blue Bird". Since 1925 Р in Paris he worked for the "Bat" theater of M. Baliyev, designed the performances of the Russian repertoire in Madrid and Barcelona. Since 1937 he left theatre set design, painted Paris and Provence landscapes, still lives. Since 1920 he worked in book graphics, illustrated the literary works of M. GogolХ, M. Lermontov, F. Dostoevskyy, A. Chekhov. Chevalier of the Legion of Honor Order (1953). His personal exhibitions were held in Berlin (1922), Vienna (1924), Paris (1946). His works are kept in the Art Museums of Berlin, Paris, and also in Russian and foreign private collections.
