A Russian painter, graphic artist, watercolourist. Born in the village of Buj, Kostroma province. Nephew of the famous writer O. Pysemskyy. From 1878 till 1890 he studied at St. Petersburg Academy of Arts in the landscape painting class of M. Klodt and Y. Clever. In the period of studying he was awarded large and small silver medals. In 1890 he was promoted to the class painter of the 1st degree. Since 1883 he exhibited his works at the exhibitions of the Society of the exhibitions of the works of art, of the Academy of Arts, Moscow Society of Art Lovers, the Society of Russian watercolorists, etc. Member and exhibitor of the Society for the Promotion of Artists, Petersburg union of artists. Member of the Union "Myussarovskye Mondays". Teacher at the drawing school of the Society for the Promotion of Artists (1895 - 1913). He lived in St. Petersburg. In 1890s he made a trip to North Africa. In 1914 there was held a memorial exhibition of the artist in St. Petersburg. He painted mostly landscapes, worked in watercolor. He was engaged in book illustration. His works are presented in the State Tretyakov Gallery, in the Art Museums of Ulyanovsk, Penza and in many others.
