A Russian artist, landscape painter. Born in the village of Vysokyy Rostovskyy district. He received elementary art education at school in Rostov Museum of Church Antiquities (1890 - 1892). During his studying he got acquainted with Mr. Vereshchagin, who advised the talented young man to get a professional art education, and later helped him to settle in Moscow. In 1892 he entered Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he studied from 1898 under the guidance of I. Levitan, and from 1900s Р under the guidance of A. Vasnetsov. In 1903 he was promoted to the class artist and got a great silver medal. Exhibitor of such exhibitions as of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions, St. Petersburg exhibition of "The World of Arts" where P. Tretyakov acquired the landscape of the artist. Since 1904 - permanent participant of the exhibitions of the Union of Russian Artists (its member since 1910), since 1906 - member of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions. In 1917 there was the first solo exhibition. In 1924 at the exhibition of the Russian art in New York 11 paintings of the artists were presented. From 1927 till 1928 he participated in the creation of "The Association of the Artists- Realists." During 1937 - 1943 he taught painting and drawing at Moscow Regional Art School. All his life he was fond of the Russian antiquity, ancient architectural monuments, which he often revealed in his works. His works are kept in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, in Rostov Art Museum, etc.
