Engaged in decorative painting of walls, participated in the creation of the first Czechoslovak stamps. One of the founders of the Association of Moravian Artists (1907). Exhibitor of numerous exhibitions in Europe and the US. In 1919 became a professor at the Prague Academy of Arts, in 1930 - the rector of it. Member of art societies of Vienna and Paris.
